Barbara Ruth Steward, 75, entered into her Heavenly home on June 7, 2017. She leaves behind family and friends that love and adore her, and will miss her more than words can describe. Their strength is found in faith believing they will all be together again someday.
Barbara entered this world on December 3, 1941. She married the love of her life, Donald L. Steward on April 3, 1960. They celebrated 57 years together and have two sons; Gregg (Karen) Steward and Brian (Terri) Steward. Barbara has a sister; Patti (Dan) Mappes. She has nine grandchildren; Stephanie (Rick) Grimes, Joe (Erin) Steward, Suni Steward, Tyler Steward, Beau Steward, Brandy (Zack) Bontrager, Stephen Page (fiancée, Madellyne Tice) Shawn Page (Brenda Mello) and Sarah Page (Chris Finney).
She has nine great-grandchildren; Callen, Max, Luke, Adam, Andrew, Hayden, Mason, Kaden and Bri and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Isenberg, father, James Isenberg and great-grandson, Carter Grimes.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love and devotion to her family was evident within two minutes of meeting her. Her determination, patience, faith and strength are all characteristics she passed onto her family.
Barbara lived a faith-filled life. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Greenwood, Indiana. Everywhere you look in Don and Barbara’s home is a reflection of her devotion to God, her love of animals and especially their dog, Cody.
Barbara never met a stranger. Within a few minutes of meeting her, you felt like you were with an old friend, one that truly loved and cared about you. She welcomed everyone with open arms and a loving heart. She always thought of others first and illustrated the true meaning of a nurturer. Even during her illness, she took the time to listen and get to know her doctors and nurses. She truly cared about everyone she met.
She enjoyed gardening, decorating and keeping a beautiful home. She enjoyed finding a good buy at a yard sale or craft fair. She made beautiful floral arrangements, the best pies in the world and always asked what special dessert someone wanted for their birthday. Barbara always kept her promise and would appear at your door with the special treat for your special day and always ended a phone call or visit with “I love you”.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 W. Smokey Row Rd, Greenwood, IN 46143 with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be private to the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

Bob and I loved Barbara. She was extremely talented and made many beautiful arrangements for me. She was in constant motion, always anticipating the next needs of others. I pray that she is now at peace and can finally rest. She deserves the best. God bless her and those who treasured her.
